Our Work

Christchurch, New Zealand

We are investigating the extent and causes of damage from the September 2010, M7.0 Canterbury Earthquake in New Zealand. Damage in downtown Christchurch was caused by widespread soil liquefaction and historic buildings that had little or no seismic reinforcement. In addition, the collapse of many nonstructural elements shut down businesses completely. Individuals, businesses, community organizations, and essential facilities will continue to be affected for months or years to come. Early damage estimates are in the range of $1.4 billion. We are assisting with post-earthquake needs in an effort to restore safety and operations to Christchurch and the surrounding communities.
