The projects were two new race day hotels in the Yas Island development, with total 596 keys. They were intended to accommodate visitors for the inaugural Abu Dhabi Formula 1 grand prix, and the project went on super fast-tracked programme. Franky was assigned to the site as a lead engineer when construction activity at its most intense. He managed the interface between the Waterman design team in Sydney, and the site team, ensuring constant and efficient exchange of information between the two sides. He was also responsible to ensure correct implementation of the design on site and, provide prompt response to site queries from the contractor and architect’s site teams, including assisting the resident engineer on day-to-day site supervision.
