This 660,000 sqft., 1 km long linear retail with landscaped podium roof has been intended to be enclosed public space connecting all the plots within the DIFC precinct. To create the connection, the project’s complex programme included two dozens single storey and 2-storey concrete framed shopping mall buildings, 90m long steel pedestrian bridges, and landscaped roof deck basement all to be built over existing and in service 2-storey underground service tunnels. Additional 2 levels of basement also to be built abutting part of the existing tunnels. The complicated project was to be delivered in fast track programme with only 6 months design programme. Franky led the structural team from the late concept through the tender stage. He also coordinated with the lead architect and other disciplines. He reviewed the contract documents ensuring on time and on quality deliveries.
