On 25 April 2015, an earthquake struck Nepal lasting just 55 secs. It triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing 21 and nearly 9,000 people died. An even bigger one is expected to hit the states of Delhi, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, North-East & Jammu and Kashmir.
Experts have warned of a catastrophic earthquake in north India in the near future. With the little preparedness and training, will response teams be quick to react as fires from gas leaks rage across India? Will hospitals that are ill equipped be able to deal with the injured and homeless? Will critical buildings stand strong? The question that we need to ask ourselves is – How prepared are we?
