Description

Miyamoto International provided structural engineering services for IMAX’s cutting-edge VR Studio in the heart of Los Angeles. Having decided that virtual reality is the next frontier in the future of movie experiences, IMAX built their flagship VR Studio in L.A. to immerse users in motion-tracking technology and 360 sound that launches fantastical virtual worlds more realistic than ever imagined.

Miyamoto’s engineering included the design of a complex VR-equipment-and-cable support system in an existing building. Improvements were phased in, with the lobby as part of Phase 1 and the warehouse as part of Phase 2. Miyamoto helped with the walls and ceilings on the right side and with the cable support system, which looks like lattice on the left.
