The UCSD Health Sciences & Medical Center was designed to provide office space for doctors and staff working in the adjacent hospitals. The three-story medical office building will serve as a gateway to UCSD, providing consolidation of research and associated staff who were previously spread around several on- and off-campus locations. Located behind the Thornton Hospital, the 75,000-SF tilt-up structure will feature offices, exam rooms, waiting rooms and a café, in addition to the research institute. The LEED Silver building will improve efficiency and enhance collaboration of the medical staff. By utilizing tilt-up construction, the project was constructed in record time while minimizing disruptions to the surrounding medical facilities.
