The San Diego Miramar College Library and Learning Resource Center serves the campus and community, not only as a three-story library, but also as space for labs, classrooms, administrative offices and a 236-seat auditorium. The 100,000-SF building was designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification using a number of sustainable features such as extensive use of construction and design materials made from recycled materials and high‐efficiency plumbing and electrical fixtures. The structural design included a structural-steel special moment-resisting space frame and provides high performance in an elevated earthquake risk environment. Additional features include a large roof plaza and photovoltaic panel capacity on the roof.
