The Kaiser Dublin Specialty Medical Building and Cancer Center—170,000-SF and 30,000-SF, respectively—are the first phase in the development of a 58-acre parcel. In addition to specialty care, the medical building includes an urgent-care clinic, outpatient surgery, surgical specialties and other services under OSHPD jurisdiction, such as pharmacy, laboratory and health education. By collaborating with the design-build team and Kaiser, Miyamoto proposed alternative concrete options that saved the project over $2 million in structural costs. It is anticipated that 35 to 40 acres of the site will be dedicated to healthcare development while the remaining portion will be reserved for possible commercial uses.
