Miyamoto Internati onal provided structural engineering services for the adapti ve reuse of this existi ng 10-story concrete offi ce building into a 100-unit residenti al property. The existi ng building was constructed in 1970 and served the Santa Ana commercial district. With the need for housing growing and the reducti on in offi ce demand, the building was poised for reuse. The structure consists of a three-sided earthquake load resisti ng system, which results in a twisti ng behavior. We developed innovati ve soluti ons to address the concern and improve the life-safety of the building.
