The magnitude-7.0 earthquake in Haiti in January 2010 called for extraordinary measures from the global community, mobilized by an unprecedented humanitarian need. Immediately after, we worked with the government of Haiti and key recovery stakeholders to respond to the nation’s most immediate needs and to lay the foundation for reconstructing earthquake-devastated Port-au-Prince. We also worked with the United Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS), World Bank and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to continue the recovery efforts. Our work included the damage assessment of 400,000 structures in Port-au-Prince, as well as carrying out a reconstruction strategy for the affected area. Years have passed and we continue being active in Haiti by helping the government, the private sector, schools, hospitals and other structures be more prepared and more resilient.
