Miyamoto provided structural quality control (QC) inspections as required by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Included in our QC duties was the inspection of wind-and-seismic-resistant main lateral-force-resisting systems and components and cladding. Local contractors faced new challenges as the project incorporated non-standard market methods and materials, such as reinforced concrete used in compliance with high seismic and wind loads, and Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) walls, which are new to the local market. Our detailed structural quality control and technical support to local contractors provided an important bridge between US designers and local contractors to ensure the construction met the specified structural requirements and decreased delays during construction.
