Beverly Hills Development Historic Saks Building

Located at 9600 Wilshire Boulevard, the Beverly Hills Development will mark HBC’s entrance to technology, further expanding their longtime retail business. The project consists of five buildings, one being the landmark 1938 historic Saks Fifth Avenue Store, whose opening was heralded as Los Angeles’ transformation into one of the style centers of the world, amongst Paris and New York. The existing seven-story non-ductile concrete Saks building will be seismically rehabilitated and expanded to include a new spa and hotel program, comprised of retail and restaurant space (21,000-SF), a 40-key hotel (43,000-SF), a club (34,000-SF), amenities and back-of-house space (20,000-SF), and roof top swimming pools and roof decks. The seismic rehabilitation will include new concrete shear walls and FRP strengthening. The upper four levels will be rebuilt with new structural steel framing.
