A structural performance assessment, alteration, rehabilitation, upgrading, retrofit design, construction supervision and quality control services at site, structural surveying and geotechnical investigation services were provided for BP’s gas stations nationwide. The gas station facilities were composed of retail office buildings, gas filling canopies, vehicle washing units and infrastructures including embedded gas storage tanks, utilities and retaining walls. The required services may have arisen either due to rebranding requirements, capacity increment, renewing the existing facilities or new acquisitions. In each case, safety priorities and business interruption matters became main issues to be resolved during any kind of construction activity. Interdisciplinary consultations and cooperation became crucial issues on this kind of facilities subject to risk of explosion.
