Casa Candina is an upcoming 22-story luxury residential tower in Condado, Puerto Rico. Miyamoto developed a structural design that aims to redefine the high-rise industry through performance-based engineering. The structural frame consists of concrete core walls and post-tensioned floor slabs. Due to the location, we provided wind and earthquake analysis as well as incorporated structural provisions for both throughout the building and its envelope. The high-rise building will have 18 typical floor residential units, a lobby floor, a two-level underground parking, and an upper recreational deck with a pool area at the fourth floor. Special care was taken when developing the design so the structural members surrounding the pool and those supporting it are not exposed to water chemicals.
