The new Chumash Community Center provides meeting rooms, offices, cultural learning classrooms, a computer lab, library, archive storage, an Olympic sized swimming pool, basketball gymnasium, baseball fields, playground equipment and rock climbing wall for the local community. Exposed masonry walls create a unique aesthetic. The shape is asymmetrical, helping the building blend into its surroundings. Challenges include building into a hillside with uneven elevations.
