For this new bus maintenance and operations facility, Miyamoto used a variety of materials and structural systems to maximize the cost-effectiveness of the various building functions. Our engineers used a combination of pitched steel trusses and masonry walls on the maintenance building, which allowed strong natural lighting in the service bays. The bus wash was built with precast concrete, which was readily available locally, to give the structure functional resistance to moisture and corrosion. Finally, to ensure the design was economic yet durable, our team planned the Spanish-mission-styled administration building with a combination of structural steel and cold-formed exterior framing.
