Hornet Commons

This new student housing village at Sacramento State is an apartment-style community aimed at upper-division and graduate students. It was delivered as a P3 (Private/Public Partnership) project. With the capacity to house nearly 1,100 students, it is situated in an amenity-rich environment on the south side of campus. The community is shaped by eight buildings: six four-story resident buildings, an amenity building and a maintenance building. The amenity building affords outside activities such as a community pool, sand volleyball court and BBQ area with an indoor fitness room and yoga studio nearby. Student lounges and a cafe are also part of the project. Miyamoto provided its engineering services according to the CSU system standards for wind, seismic and live loads. The university describes the community as a signature project that meets students’ academic and social needs while maintaining a strong connection to campus.
