The Jagdamba Group is one of the largest suppliers of cement and rebar in Nepal. The structural system of the Neupane Tower is a moment resistingframe. The buildingis nine stories tall with an additional basement level. The construction type is cast-in-place reinforced concrete. The headquarters sustained earthquake damage and was evacuated. In order to avoid business interruption aft er future earthquake disasters, the Jagdamba Group worked with Miyamoto International and architects Creative Circle Consultants to retrofi t the buildingwith fl uid viscous dampers. This retrofi t solution complements the architectural design of the tower and allows for immediate occupancy, ensuringlife safety and business continuity in the event of a strong aft ershock or future earthquake disaster. The scope of this project included a seismic upgrade design and construction supervision.
