One Capitol Mall

One Capitol Mall

The beautiful One Capitol Mall, bedecked with marble and bronze, was originally built in 1993. Boasting a LEED Silver certification, the existing eight-story, 202,000- SF office and parking building consists of concrete construction with two-way post-tensioned concrete floors that are supported by concrete columns bearing on a driven pile foundation system. The lateral system is comprised of moment frames at the elevated levels over shear walls at the lower parking levels. The original structural design was prepared according to the 1988 Uniform Building Code. One Capitol Mall approached Miyamoto in 2019 to prepare a seismic upgrade design for the existing structure to comply with the University of California’s Seismic Safety Policy for UC lease occupancy. Our seismic improvements added supplemental viscous dampers at the first office level and second parking level, fiber-reinforced polymer composite fabric to wrap columns and damping elements at the seventh and eighth office levels. One Capitol Mall serves as the Sacramento campus for the University of San Francisco and has dedicated space for UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education classes.
