Orange County Transportation Authority Transit Security and Operations Center

Miyamoto is providing structural engineering services for the two-story, 32,000-square-foot OCTA Transit Security and Operati ons Center facility (TSOC) in Anaheim, CA. Currently, the OCTA is localized at its Garden Grove Annex building. Due to a lack of space and structural and operati onal limitati ons, it is next to impossible for the OCTA to include transit security and operati ons in their functi ons and to meet California’s structural standards. This project will address the future needs and requirements of the OCTA’s operati onal and security functi ons, with structural upgrades and space for expected growth and the additi on of new functi ons. The new headquarters will contain the Emergency Operati ons Center (EOC), Central Communicati ons (Dispatch), Field Operati ons, Informati on Systems, and Security and Emergency Preparedness functi ons. The facility, which will be housed on a 2.9-acre site, will be designed with redundant building systems and increased structural performance criteria—achieved with the implementati on of a structural steel fl oor and roof framing with seismic resistance provided by Buckling-Restrained Braced Frames—to provide for a resilient facility that can support OCTA’s functi ons in the event of an emergency.
