Port of San Diego Earthquake Risk Assessment

Port of San Diego Earthquake Risk Assessment

Miyamoto provided a seismic risk assessment of selected Unified Port of San Diego properties located in San Diego, CA. The purpose of the study was to quantify the earthquake risk to certain properties by estimating the Probable Maximum Loss (PML). Associated with the PML for each property was an estimate of downtime or business interruption (BI). Secondarily, our team proposed conceptual retrofitting or other actions that were likely to substantially reduce the expected level of damage. Additionally, Miyamoto engineers held a two-day site survey as well as reviewed all available building and pier construction drawings and pier soil reports. Not all properties had drawings; some properties also had limited numbers of drawings. Because most of the buildings did not have site specific soil reports, our team had to use general published soil information for the region, instead.
