When the River Cats Triple-A Baseball Team decided to add a 5,000-SF private club at Raley Field in West Sacramento, they turned to Miyamoto International to help them make it happen. The expansion of the existing suites along the third base line included a full bar, media wall, dining, performance venue, executive suites, indoor seating and cantilevered outdoor seating over the lower level. The project required an analysis of the existing stadium structure, so Miyamoto provided a new structural system that utilized four different lateral force resisting systems to save cost, avoid disruptions and advantage of the excess capacity of the existing structure. The project schedule was limited to the River Cats’ off-season, so sensible structural solutions were required to meet the demolition and construction phasing before the baseball season commenced.
