Royal Oasis Hotel Earthquake Performance Analysis

Royal Oasis Hotel Earthquake Performance Analysis

Miyamoto International worked with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank, to assess the earthquake performance of the Royal Oasis Hotel, a mixed-use complex located in Petion-Ville. Following the initial peer review and analysis, dampers were included at strategic locations throughout the main building wings to provide a significant performance increase. The high-end resort includes 132 rooms, a shopping arcade, conference center, art gallery, The Villa restaurant, a restaurant lounge and a parking facility. The hotel will increase the availability of international standard rooms in Haiti. This new development will help create jobs, generate business opportunities for small and medium enterprises, promote sustainable development in the tourism industry and provide infrastructure in a city devastated by the effects of the January 2010 earthquake.
