The SETA building is a 94,380-SF single story concrete tilt-up. This existing Blue Diamond Almond warehouse was converted into offices, classrooms, and child care for the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency. The new use required many new openings in the existing solid concrete walls. Tube steel “H Frames” were used to allow for these new openings and the walls were tied back to the roof to keep them from pulling away in an earthquake. Much of the existing concrete tilt-up panels were removed on the elevation facing Del Paso Blvd. Three steel braced frames were added along this line to accommodate these openings and keep this building stable during an earthquake.
