San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

Relocating the division from its existing location at 1990 Newcomb Avenue to 2000 Marin Street. Sitting on an eight-acre property, the new, 405,144-SF campus will house six buildings; the largest of which is the six-story garage with a capacity of 556 cars. Second is the four-story administration building, containing a community hub, shops and an outdoor plaza. The other four buildings will be a machine shop, an auto and carpentry shop and a 40-foot-tall warehouse with a meter shop. The site will also include a backup generator on a concrete pad and a fueling station with two above-ground fuel tanks for diesel and gasoline. Miyamoto prepared the structural design for the project. The four-story administrative building utilizes perimeter buckling-restrained braced (BRB) frames founded on auger cast piles. Three auto/machine shops are designed with a combination of BRB and moment frames on micropiles. The kiosk building consists of CMU units founded on mat slab/footing. We also provided structural assistance and designs for landscaping, architectural site elements and hundreds of special equipment anchorage and support.
