Miyamoto International collaborated with Steinberg Hart & Flint Builders on the new Career Education Complex for the San Jose Evergreen Community College District. The scope of this design-build project included the design and construction of a new facility, renovation of an existing facility and associated site work. The new four-story facility, of approximately 85,000-SF, houses classrooms, computer labs,
program-specific labs for skilled workers, offices, student support spaces, social spaces, food service, and medical, business and information disciplines. Building 200 has been renovated to improve its approximately 35,000-SF of classroom and industrial lab spaces. The two buildings form one complex with a structural design utilizing buckling-restrained braced frames for lateral resistance.
