The purpose of the plan was to improve Butangaz buried pipeline located in the Marmara Ereğlisi/Tekirdağ region for earthquake and flood risks. Within the scope of services, 1-dimensional and 3-dimensional structural models were created and comprehensive structural analyses were carried out. According to the results of the analyses, it was identified that the existing pipeline would not meet the required earthquake performance level due to excessive lateral and longitudinal deformations that might have been caused by soil liquefaction during an earthquake or flood. Based on these findings, alternative rehabilitation approaches were studied considering existing protection systems of buried pipeline and soil segments where the line passes through.
