Swiss Otel, a 5-star prominent hotel with 574 rooms in downtown Istanbul, was built in 1989. The hotel included a main hotel complex separated by expansion joints and an annex building for long-term stays. Engineering services carried out for this property included peer review of the original design, detailed surveying and detailed structural assessment to confirm the life-safety criteria was satisfied for the structural system. No retrofitting requirement was identified for the structural system, except some minor recommendations against underground water seepage.
