TAB Products, a nationwide leader in records storage and information management, requested Miyamoto’s assistance and engineering expertise in an on-going assessment for the development of cost-effective strategies for installing high-density shelving in seismic regions. Miyamoto has designed over 100 TAB shelving installations in the United States since 2005. As a result, TAB lowered its engineering fees due to a more streamlined process. TAB also incorporated this data into their information submittal forms for sales associates to use. Benefits of TAB shelving include an estimated 25-45 percent reduction in seismic forces during an event, and the fast-track design and permitting process allows TAB sales staff to meet the management and post-earthquake needs of client records.
