U.S. Armed Forces Reserve Center, Fort Allen

U.S. Armed Forces Reserve Center, Fort Allen

Miyamoto International served as the structural Quality Control (QC) inspector for this U.S. Armed Forces Reserve Center. As required by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the team inspected the wind and seismic main lateral force resisting system, components and cladding. All tilt-up concrete panels were fabricated on-site. During the fabrication, we were constantly involved in the project to help the contractor minimize errors during fabrication and embedded connections to avoid the usual mistakes observed in tilt-up construction in Puerto Rico. Tilt-up buildings are not common on the Island because of the delays and elevated costs caused by the high rate of fabrication error. By working directly with the contractor, we were able to mitigate these errors and avoid any delays. Our team was also involved in the welding inspection of all steel connections, composite steel deck construction and foundation requirements. And just as before, we worked closely with the contractor in all phases to reduce errors and avoid time delays. Awards: LEED® Gold, Awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council U.S. Armed Forces Reserve Center, Fort Allen
