This University of California, Davis project is a two-story addition to the Academic Surge. It provides approximately 4,900-SF of research and teaching spaces, which are needed to study the environmental and economic issues related to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and its tributary watersheds. An additional 10,755-SF of unfinished space is included for campus development. The building’s structural system comprises special moment resisting steel frames with non-bearing, exterior metal stud walls. The second floor is concrete over a metal deck and is supported by composite steel beams. Similarly, the roof has a metal deck that is supported by steel beams.
