Villa Verde Affordable Housing

Villa Verde Affordable Housing

Villa Verde is a vibrant community that provides affordable housing to low-income, farmworker families. Embodying the City of Coachella’s resiliency, this project creates new opportunities for social cohesion and connectivity, while fostering a positive social, economic and physical transformation for its community. The Villa Verde project provides 152 multi-family affordable units that are income-restricted one-, two- and three-bedroom type rental units in 29 two-story wood-framed buildings of Type V construction. On-site facilities and common spaces include property management and resident services offices, a community room and laundry facilities, as well as outdoor hardscape and landscape areas spread over five patios. Existing streets from the east of the site have been extended to serve as the main vehicular, service and emergency circulation elements. A new pedestrian-only path, called the “Verde Path,” runs north-south, connecting the neighboring communities to the north and south. Covered parking is provided at grade.
