World Bank Housing in Mexico

Miyamoto synthesized the new National Housing Plan (2020-2024) along with technical documentation relating to the Urban Upgrading Program to provide expert recommendations on housing policies and neighborhood upgrades. The overall goal of the assignment was to provide recommendations on possible actions the Government of Mexico can take to effectively target the most vulnerable geographical areas and segments of the population under the new World Bank operation – “COVID 19 – Resilient and Inclusive Housing Project in Mexico.” Recommendations included better targeting and adaption of existing programs to deliver more effective and efficient social housing programs and incentives for infrastructure investment. The resulting report also proposed recommendations for scaling affordable retrofit housing solutions, and a shift in focus from the qualitative to the quantitative housing deficit.
