Miyamoto International provided structural engineering design services for a new, one-story, steel-framed 53,000-SF, 50-bed rehabilitation hospital. The design of both the primary structure and anchorage of non-structural elements satisfy all OSHPD-1 requirements for immediate occupancy following an earthquake. Along with the patient rooms, the hospital offers exam rooms, radiology and fluoroscopy functions, a classroom, a dining hall and a therapy gym for the patients. HealthSouth is one of the nation’s largest providers of post-acute healthcare services, offering both facility-based and home-based post-acute services. The hospital will provide inpatient rehabilitative care including specialized rehabilitation programs using advanced technology to help patients recover from a major illness, injury or surgery.
