Description
The Norvartis New Pharmaceutical Building is a four-story steel structure designed using performance-based engineering concepts. With the goal of reducing drift and dissipating energy, this structure has 54 buckling restrained dampers in its braces. The use of damping devices allows the structure to perform better during an earthquake, reduce damages, and avert the need for retrofit and business interruption costs after a seismic event.
