Hale Medical Center has an interesting story. Because the Methodist Hospital located in Arcadia, California had an overflow of outpatient clients due to recent changes in federal healthcare legislation, a new building was required. To support this sudden need, Miyamoto International provided structural engineering design services for a four-story, concrete tilt-up medical office building. The 18,000-SF floor plate and 72,000-SF total building are on conventional continuous and isolated concrete pad footings. Miyamoto also provided design services for a steel pedestrian bridge connecting the new medical office building (MOB) to the current Methodist Hospital. This allows patients to quickly access the medical building located across the street.
Seeing a building go up “in days” was a wonder to the community. A video of how we do this can be seen here.
