Disaster Engineering Experts Support Venezuela with Rapid Earthquake Recovery Operations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, DC, July 3, 2026. Miyamoto International, a US-based global engineering and disaster-risk management firm, is providing rapid engineering intelligence, operational decision support, and capacity development in response to the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela. The effort is being implemented in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Disaster and Humanitarian Response (DHR) to assist national response capacity and accelerate recovery planning across affected regions.

A combined team of international and Venezuelan engineers will conduct targeted assessments of priority housing, schools, and critical infrastructure. These assessments generate actionable damage, habitability, and reparability data that support government and humanitarian decision-makers in stabilizing communities and guiding lifesaving operations. The mission also includes technical assistance, training, and knowledge transfer to bolster national engineering systems and improve long-term resilience.

“Miyamoto’s decades of experience in disaster response and recovery will directly support the people of Venezuela. The country has deep engineering capacity, but no nation is fully prepared for disasters of this scale. We are here to help facilitate the process,” said Dr. H. Kit Miyamoto, Global CEO of Miyamoto International, who will be in the disaster zone this Sunday.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to protecting lives, restoring essential services, and supporting Venezuelan communities, technical institutions, and emergency response partners as they navigate the complex challenges of post-earthquake recovery.
