Description
In 2017, Montana Hotel acquired a new property adjacent to the main hotel. The existing building previously was a single-family residence; our client needed a structural assessment to evaluate existing performance level and to evaluate architectural and structural revisions to enable a conversion to apartments. The existing three-level building had unique architecture and multiple structural irregularities. The detailed structural assessment identified multiple structural deficiencies in the unreinforced masonry structure. Subsequent to the assessment, Miyamoto developed structural seismic upgrades based on the 2012 International Building Code and reference documents, including ACI 318-11. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2019.
