Kyiv, Ukraine – October 6, 2023 – The State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the organization responsible for the execution of reconstruction projects in Ukraine, and Miyamoto International, a globally recognized leader in engineering and disaster reconstruction, have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to assess the destruction and scale of work, plans for construction work and provide expertise for recovery. The signing took place during a meeting between Mustafa Nayyem, the head of the Restoration Agency, and Miyamoto Ukraine representatives, including Dr. Kit Miyamoto, the Global CEO of Miyamoto International.

A primary focus for the Agency of Restoration is ensuring reconstruction projects are conducted by both Ukrainian and international experts. Nayyem highlighted the critical importance of international expertise, “Quality international expertise will assist effective and transparent rebuilding. In addition, Miyamoto attracts Ukraine engineers and experts for building and restoration work. Ukrainian experts will work side by side with Miyamoto’s international experts.”

Miyamoto International is renowned for its expertise in supporting communities around the world in the aftermath of natural disasters and conflicts, specializing in engineering, international development, and humanitarian assistance. For over a year, Miyamoto Ukraine has been actively collaborating with Ukraine, extending its support to various projects and programs nationwide. During this period, its experts have conducted comprehensive assessments of over 20,000 sites, successfully restoring 5,000, with an additional 2,000 projects currently in reconstruction.

Reflecting on this initiative, Pavlo Pokhalchuk, Principal of Miyamoto Ukraine, shared, “Building on Miyamoto International’s experience with our local expertise, we are deeply honored to contribute to reconstructing vital infrastructure essential for Ukraine’s recovery. This MOU represents a significant stride towards this crucial work, leveraging Ukraine’s unwavering resolve and resilience in defending our nation to address the challenge of rebuilding and reconstruction.”

Dr. Kit Miyamoto, Global CEO, emphasized the need for early commencement of the country’s reconstruction, “The rebuilding of the country must be started as now because people are coming back and live, work and go to school as normal as much as possible.”
