Miyamoto completed the renovation of an existing 1-story, Fire Station, including a 1-story, 560-SF addition. The renovation of the existing fire station included several modifications to existing shear walls (both wood-framed and masonry that trigger seismic upgrade requirements (i.e., modifications to a building that increases seismic shear demand to existing lateral-force resisting elements by 10% or more). As a result, the existing structure was brought into conformance with the current building code (2007 CBC).
