MEXICO CITY (Sept. 25, 2017)—At the request of private sector businesses and government entities, earthquake structural engineering experts from the global firm Miyamoto International have arrived in Mexico City to assist with critical assessments and recovery plans.
The team brings world-class expertise from more than 100 earthquakes and disasters and can provide officials with “lessons learned” from other earthquake-stricken countries. Global expert Dr. Kit Miyamoto himself arrives Tuesday for key meetings and is also representing the California Seismic Safety Commission.
“It is imperative to owners to develop ‘next step’ plans for buildings that suffered damage but remain repairable and to get Mexico City’s economy up and going again,” said Miyamoto, a commissioner for the agency.
Miyamoto has helped businesses and governments in Ecuador, Nepal, Italy, Haiti, China, New Zealand, Japan and many other countries and won the U.S. Presidential “E” Award for its sharing of technical knowledge with world governments.
