Miyamoto International revisits the M 7.1 earthquake that struck Central Mexico one year ago today to illustrate how devastated areas can rebuild better and safer. The killer earthquake collapsed more than 40 buildings and 369 people died, including 19 schoolchildren. Listen as Dr. Kit Miyamoto and engineer Jesus Valdez share their ideas about public and private collaboration to strengthen vulnerable and damaged buildings. Valdez, who coordinated rescue efforts at the deadliest site in the city immediately after the disaster, now heads Miyamoto International’s Mexico City office.
