KYIV, UKRAINE November 9th, 2022 – As the conflict in Ukraine rages in its ninth month, reconstruction and recovery needs are estimated at approximately US $349 billion. Given the overwhelming demand for structural engineering expertise of recovery, rebuilding, and retrofit efforts, Miyamoto International, world-leading experts in post-disaster response and recovery engineering, opened their 27th location in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Since the conflict escalated in February, Miyamoto International has continued to increase capacity building in Ukraine to bolster locally led recovery effort actions”, said Dr. Kit Miyamoto, Global CEO of Miyamoto International and President of Miyamoto Relief.

Miyamoto Ukraine brings integrated relief and recovery efforts to liberated and conflict-affected communities. Ukraine’s team seeks to address gaps in the current response effort through our integrated approach, including immediate relief and early recovery support. This includes employing a local approach in Ukraine and focusing on the most vulnerable communities and individuals.

Dr. Miyamoto, who visited Ukraine during October Kyiv raids, believe in supporting local talent for reconstruction, “Our team is composed by the most talented engineers in the region, led by Pavel Pokhalchuk as country manager, Yurii Hlava, as a lead engineer and construction manager and supported by the expertise of our staff across the globe, with over 100 responses to global disasters.”, said the structural engineer.

Yurii Hlava is an expert in the execution of large, complex, major projects, with a focus on residential and commercial infrastructure. He brings to Miyamoto more than 20 years of demonstrated achievement in engineering and project management across the country.

Miyamoto’s focus in Ukraine will be on repair and strengthening engineering for homes, schools, government, and commercial buildings.
