Our Work

Mosaic Port Antonio

The two Mosaic buildings at the Port Antonio facility had minor to no damage from the earthquake. The pier is supported on steel and cast-in-place concrete piling with bents and bracing for lateral support. The pier has 4 berths for container ships. Attached to the side of the pier is a conveyor belt that transports raw material from ships to the two storage buildings. Alternately trucks are also used to transport the raw material from the ships to the warehouses. The conveyor was undamaged. Earthquake related liquefaction caused some of the piles to settle, resulting in an uneven deck surface and concrete cracking and spalling. Pounding of the deck lead to more paving damage. The Port is conducting underwater inspection and load tests on the pier, and will repair the earthquake damage.
