Port of Oakland, Wharf and Embankment Strengthening Program
The Port of Oakland is planning for a –50 Federal harbor deepening (dredging)
project and has undertaken Wharf and Embankment Strengthening Program for certain berths. The work is divided into four structural engineering contracts, two geotechnical contracts, and one seismic risk consulting contract. Our geotechnical contract includes Berths 26, 30, 35, 37, 67,68 and 68 extension. Phase 1 consists of review existing data and the seismic evaluation of the as-is geotechnical conditions. Phase 2 will entail evaluation of the seismic stability of the deepened berths including recommendations for improving stability to the desired performance levels. This includes performance non linear analyses of soil structure systems using FLAC and ADINA.
